NEW RIVER – A man was arrested at his New River home on the afternoon of February 14, by Tempe Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Detectives for allegedly attempting to pay a 14-year-old girl $500 for a sexual encounter.
Kenneth Nelson, age 41, was arrested last Thursday after a joint investigation with the Tempe Police Department (TPD) and special agents from the Arizona Attorney General revealed that he planned on paying cash for one hour of sex with the girl, according TPD.
Nelson also allegedly sought out additional sexual encounters with children as young as an infant to 10-years-old, offering to pay additional money to engage in sexual activities with the children, the collaborative investigation revealed.
Tempe Police say that Nelson is also a registered sex offender.
Currently, Nelson is facing charges of attempted child sex trafficking, luring a minor for sexual exploitation and attempted sexual conduct with a minor, according Lily Duran, a detective and spokesperson for TPD.
