CAREFREE – In commemoration of their dedication, the Town of Carefree is privileged to host several events over Veterans Day weekend, honoring the sacrifice of military service members and their families in ensuring our nation’s freedom.
On Saturday, November 9, AT&T Veterans will be holding a “Charity Three Miler,” beginning at 9 a.m. at Carefree Town Hall. All ages, abilities and “fur levels” are welcome to walk or run either a one mile or three-mile course, which is setup around the Carefree Desert Gardens and downtown Carefree.
Virtual participation is also available for those wishing to financially support the charity run. Proceeds benefit Helping Hands for Freedom and other veteran charities. Bring a non-perishable food item in support of Foothills Food Bank.
Visit ATTVeterans.org/race to sign up or for more information about the fun run.
The 11th Annual Veterans Day Honor will be held on November 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion in downtown Carefree. This year’s event will feature notable guest speakers and a mixture of patriotic and military music.
Barbara Hatch, founder of Veterans Heritage Project (VHP), will be in attendance with local VHP chapter students from Cactus Shadows High School and Sonoran Trails Middle School. There will be a student exhibit, with books for sale at the event.
