Musical Theatre of Anthem Casting Call for: The Wizard of Oz

Vocal Prep and Audition Prep Workshops Available

Anthem, AZ, – Musical Theatre of Anthem announces auditions for The Wizard of Oz, the beloved tale in which a Kansas farm girl travels over the rainbow to discover the magical power of home. All youth between the ages of 6-15 will be cast for this production.  This show will be double cast (Ruby and Emerald Casts).Please see the conflict calendar on our website for details of when each cast rehearses and performs.

Dorothy and her dog, Toto, are whisked away in their house to the magical land of Oz. They follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, and on the way, they meet a Scarecrow that needs a brain, a Tin Man missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who wants courage. Dorothy shares the tale of her miraculous journey, celebrating the joy and healing power of home.

AUDITIONS: January 11, 2020:

  • 11:00 a.m. – General Auditions
  • 9:00 a.m. for workshop participants A-L
  • 10:00 a.m. for workshop participants M-Z
  • Dance Call: January 12 @ 9 a.m. or 9:45 a.m.
  • Callbacks:(you will be notified after auditions if you need to attend) January 12 @ 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: MTA’s theatre performance space at 42201 N. 41st Drive, Suite B100, Anthem, AZ 85086

COST: $325 for ages 6-15; 10% Sibling discount; Scholarships available.

DETAILS: Please bring a musical theatre song (or any song they are comfortable with), 16-32 bars or one minute in length. Bring an accompaniment with CD or iPod to sing with. You may also sing acapella if needed. Have your registration materials completed prior to coming to the audition. VOCAL CALLBACK PREP WORKSHOPS

Vocal Callback Prep Workshop will be held at MTA on Monday, January 6th from 6:45-7:45 p.m. During this 60-minute session, participants will work directly with Jackie Hammond, Producing Artistic Director, on how to ace your Callback.  Participants of the workshops will get to audition prior to the general audition time.  Cost is just $35, and space is limited to just 18 participants per session.  There is a 10% sibling discount.  For more information and to reserve your spot, visit www.musicaltheatreofanthem.org.

AUDITION PREP WORKSHOPS

Audition Preparation Workshops will be held at MTA on Thursday, January 9th, from 4:30p.m.-6p.m. and 6p.m.-7:30p.m. and Friday, January 10th, from 4:30-6p.m.  During these 90-minute sessions, participants will be instructed on cold reads, acting technique, characterization and more.  Participants of the workshops will get to audition prior to the general audition time.  Cost is just $35, and space is limited to just 18 participants per session.  There is a 10% sibling discount.  For more information and to reserve your spot, visit www.musicaltheatreofanthem.org.
