ANTHEM – Next time you are heading north on the Black Canyon Freeway, be sure to take a small detour to Amped Coffee. This industrial looking coffee shop is located in the town of Anthem, and for those that call Anthem home like myself, we are lucky to have such easy access to great coffee.

The owners, Keith and Jeanine, had a very specific vision for their hometown coffee shop. Not only would they serve amazing coffee drinks that is roasted  locally in Arizona, but they wanted to serve pastries made in-house, small bites all day long, and  beer, wine and cocktails.

The process to build such a fun space took a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but it was so worth it in the end.  They started the build out of a suite that had been around since 2000 but had never been occupied. They literally had to start with a completely blank canvas and dirt floors.

Many trips to the metal scrap yard and long nights building shiplap walls absolutely paid off. Keith and Jeanine don’t regret any of it and they say that they’ve learned so much through the process.

Amped offers plenty of entertainment throughout the week.  Be sure to checkout Trivia Tuesday, low-key live bands on Thursday plus Friday and Saturday nights include live bands that may be a bit edgier.

A typical evening with live entertainment at Amped Coffee in Anthem. Soon the owners are planning on opening a drive-thru, equipping a trailer to accommodate its customers on the go. It is expected to be up and running by this Fall.

They’ve had such success with the live bands that word has spread through the Arizona music scene. There’s absolutely no need for the locals to drive an hour one way to enjoy some great live music.

If you have a meeting or a party coming up, Amped has a great space upstairs that can be rented out. The upstairs conference room can seat 12-15 people. All it takes is a $50 deposit that can be used towards any food or beverage purchases. The owners’ son Austin is the events coordinator, and he can get you all squared away.

If you have a rather large party like a baby shower or birthday party, the whole coffee shop can be rented out on Sunday after they close at 4 p.m. They can comfortably seat 120-140 people inside and another 50 on the patio.

Keith and Jeanine love the community that they live and work in. Part of that love is doing what they can to keep Anthem safe. As a result, they gladly welcome any first responders into their establishment and offer them a free coffee or tea.

But, the amazing residents of Anthem have helped them take it a step further.

One Amped customer decided to purchase a gift card that could be used by any first responder in uniform for coffee, tea or food. The idea really caught on and many customers are adding to that original gift card.

According to staff, almost $1,000 has been added to the card and it’s increasing every day.

Now a little birdie might have told me that Amped is considering a drive-thru, and is partnering with Deer Valley Credit Union to make it happen. They have a trailer that is being fully equipped to accommodate all their customers that need a caffeine fix and are also in a bit of a hurry.

Hopefully, it will be up and running in time for those favorite fall flavors and even a few new ones like Toffee Nut and Maple.
