Let Daisy Mountain help you train for the FCC Technician License Exam, ham radio
DESERT HILLS – The Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical (DMFM) Citizen Corps is presenting a ham radio class that will help prepare attendees for the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) Technical Class License exam.
The class will take place on three consecutive Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 15, June 22, and June 29, at Daisy Mountain Fire Station 145, 1120 W. Desert Hills Drive.
This is a great class for anyone interested in learning more about amateur ham radio or wants to become a licensed operator (Morse code no longer a requirement). It is also helpful if ham radio is part of your disaster preparedness communication plan.
The cost is $40, which covers the cost of both books. Or you can purchase your own course materials and the course is free to attend. Materials can be purchased online or at the ham radio Outlet, 10613 N. 43rd Avenue in Phoenix.
The required books are “ARRL Ham Radio License Manual Fourth Edition (Level 1 Technician)” and “ARRL’s Tech Q&A Seventh Edition.”
All student who wish to take the test on the last day of class will need to pay a $15 fee in cash only (exact change). Materials will need to be downloaded and printed before class as well.
