Preparing your trees for summer: When and what you need to know

CAREFREE – For those of us who stay in the Valley of the Sun during the summer, we are well aware of what excessive heat and monsoon winds can do to our Arizona desert trees.

Can we prepare them to withstand these conditions and help prevent significant storm damage from occurring?   You bet!

On Saturday, March 9, Carefree Desert Gardens welcomes Sarah Maitland, ISA Certified Arborist and an ISA Tree Risk Assessor.  Maitland will discuss how to recognize and correct health issues in trees caused by insects and improper watering.

She will also talk about soil improvements and basic pruning concepts to prevent wind damage.

The Carefree Desert Gardens program usually includes a plant raffle and the presentation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and run approximately until noon.

The seminar will take place at the Town Council Chambers at 33 Easy Street and Nonchalant Avenue, in Carefree.  A $5 (or more) donation is appreciated to support these programs.

Come early as seating is limited.
