Department of Forestry cuts down Capitol’s Christmas tree

PHOENIX – A 26-foot-tall White Fir tree was recently cut down by the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, which will be displayed at the Arizona State Capitol.

On November 15, crews with the department’s northern district selected and cut down the Christmas tree in the Coconino National Forest. The decorated tree will be on public display for the holiday season, and tree lighting ceremony will take place at the Capitol Rotunda.

“We are honored to be able to select and cut down Arizona’s Christmas tree,” The Deparment of Forestry and Fire Management’s Northern District Manager, Aaron Green, said. “We must also thank our partners at the Coconino National Forest for allowing us to harvest a tree off of federal land.”
