CAREFREE – The Carefree Town Council and Mayor were sworn into office on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the regularly scheduled meeting, and swiftly moved right into administrative duties by nominating and electing a new vice mayor.

Directly after the newly elected or re-elected six town council members John Crane, Cheryl Kroyer, Jim Van Allen, Mike Farrar, Gene Orrico, and Michael Krahe took their oaths, Mayor Les Peterson nominated John Crane for Vice Mayor.

“Based on his excellent performance throughout these last two years, valuable assistance to both the town staff and myself, I would like to nominate John Crane as Vice Mayor,” said Peterson while announcing his nomination at the meeting.

The Carefree Town Council unanimously approved John Crane’s nomination, officially making him the Vice Mayor for a term of two years.

Mayor Peterson then reviewed the code of conduct, and procedural matters of how the town council conducts its monthly meeting with the new town council.
