Casting call for MTA’s Junie B. Jones The Musical

ANTHEM – Junie B. is coming to a stage near you! The well-loved heroine of Barbara Park’s best-selling books will be featured in Musical Theatre of Anthem’s Junie B. Jones The Musical.

Junie B. Jones The Musical, created by Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldric, is based on the adaptation of author Park’s books. This no-cut production is for ages 6-13; auditions will be held on Jan. 9, at MTA in Anthem.

Junie B. is a favorite among young readers, and the musical gives fans a chance to act out her comical books. In Junie B. Jones The Musical, it’s Junie B.’s first day of first grade and a lot of things have changed for her: her friend Lucille doesn't want to be her best pal anymore, and on the bus, Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. Also, Junie B. has trouble reading the blackboard and her teacher Mr. Scary thinks she may need glasses. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament, and a ‘Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal,’ and first grade has never been more exciting. Junie B. Jones The Musical will feature fun-filled songs and zany characters. MTA production staff includes director Jackie Hammond, choreographer Lyndsie Clymer, and vocal director Karen Blanzy.  Rehearsals begin Jan. 14, with performances taking place Feb. 18-21 and 25-28.

General vocal auditions will be held Saturday, Jan. 9, 11 a.m. The Dance Call will be on Sunday, Jan. 10, 9 a.m. and callbacks at 11a.m. Auditions, callbacks, and rehearsals will be held at MTA’s theatre performance space at 42323 N. Vision Way, in Anthem. Kids auditioning should prepare a musical theatre song to perform. Registration materials need to be downloaded from and filled out prior to the audition.
