CAREFREE – The Town of Carefree was awarded the 2015 “Best Master Plan Award” at the Arizona State Planning Conference Awards hosted by the American Planning Association in Tucson this November.

Mayor Les Peterson, Planning and Zoning Director Stacey Bridge-Denezak, and members of the Michael Baker Group International accepted the award at the Marriott University Hotel in downtown Tucson on Nov. 15, on behalf of the town.

The Best Master Plan Award is considered the top recognition at the APA Conference. The town’s plan focused on increased visibility, developing retail, entertainment services, and experience enhancements in the downtown area of Carefree, according to a town press release.

The town attributes a committee comprised of community members who steered the plans promotion and organization, along with Carefree staff on town council.

Key consultants Matt Klyszeiko, Kevin Kugler, and Evan Fischer, of the Michael Baker Group, were in Tucson to accept the award, as well.
