Nation’s tallest Christmas tree ready for the holidays
ANTHEM – Are you ready for Christmas yet? The Outlets at Anthem is – the 115-foot tall white fir is now lit up for the season.
Thousands of people attended the annual lighting ceremony on Nov. 14, enjoying the music and special events planned for the night. At 7 p.m. that night, Santa Claus, along with emcee Javier Soto from 3TV and Phoenix Councilwoman Thelda Williams, led the countdown and flipped the switch to light the tree.
Planned headliner JoJo did not attend the tree lighting; sadly, her father unexpectedly passed away Saturday morning. Country singer Maggie Rose performed, and multiple local bands also performed, including Scottsdale triplets, Just Seconds Apart, and the ASU group The Pitchforks. In a follow-up Twitter post that night, Maggie Rose called the audience “legit magical tonight.”
The festive ceremony included a somber note. The tree was spotlighted in blue, white, and red, and a moment of silence was held in support for Paris after the terrorist attacks there on Nov. 13. Audience members referred to the moment as extremely touching and special.
Now that the tree is lit, Santa’s cottage at the outlet mall will be opening for visits and photos. The cottage opens on Friday, Nov. 20. A full schedule is posted online at www.outletsanthem.com.
