Local equestrians join in 19th Annual Larkyn Memorial Arena Poker Ride

NEW RIVER – The 19th Annual Larkyn Memorial Arena Poker Ride was held last Saturday.

Equestrians of all ages turned out to enjoy the day at the New River Kiwanis Community Park. Jeanne Powell was the lucky winner of the beautifully inscribed belt buckle. Austin Tongue had the best Poker hand and was among winners of the many raffle prizes donated by local businesses. The ride lasted three hours, and a barbecue lunch was served at the park. Kiwanis extends thanks to multiple businesses for helping out, including Lakin Milling, Last Dollar Feed, Three Bars Feed & Tack, Gio’s Pizza, El Pizzeria, and Everedge Knives.

The Cub Scouts from Pack 431 enjoyed their annual Raingutter Regatta that same Saturday at the park. For years, the Scouts have partnered with the Kiwanis helping to enhance and maintain the community park. For more information on joining the local Cub Scouts and Cub Scouts’ events, call Barbara Otradovec at (623) 824-4917. To learn more about joining the local Boy Scouts, call Michael Otradovec at (602) 989-9480.
