Four nominees announced for Business Person of the Year award

ANTHEM – Four nominees for the Anthem Area Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year award have been announced.

Dennis L. Jones of D.L. Jones & Associates, Josh Rogers of SWEAT, Justin Simons of State Farm, and Maria Estrada of Tortas Chano have been nominated for this year’s award. The award winner will be announced at the Holiday Business Reception and Awards Ceremony on Dec. 1.

Each year, the Anthem Area Chamber of Commerce and the Anthem Community Council join together to celebrate Anthem area businesses. Written nominations for the Chamber Business Person of the Year award have been accepted from the community, including from Chamber members and non-members.  The nominees will be voted on by a committee of business peers and prior award recipients. The winner of the Business Person of the Year award will be announced on Dec. 1, at the Ironwood Golf & Country Club, along with the Anthem Community Council’s Excellence in Community Service and Commercial Property Improvement award winners at the Holiday Business Reception and Awards Ceremony.

Nominee Dennis L. Jones owns D.L. Jones & Associates Real Estate, which was established in 2006. This real estate brokerage employs more than 80 licensed agents and offers support to a variety of community organizations, like the Foothills Food Bank and Linda’s W.I.S.H.

Nominee Josh Rogers owns SWEAT, an Anthem fitness center, with his wife Laura. SWEAT opened in 2005. Rogers is a volunteer coach for the Boulder Creek Varsity Football team, and supports other community organizations, including holding a Christmastime toy collection drive for Smile Train.

Nominee Justin Simons owns the Justin R Simons State Farm Agency. Since opening the agency in 2001, Simons has been recognized as State Farm Agent of the Year in North Phoenix and Silver Scroll Agent. Simons volunteers at Boulder Creek High School, sponsors We Care in Anthem, and is an annual announcer for the Veterans Day Parade.

Nominee Maria Estrada owns Tortas Chano Authentic Mexican Food (formerly Roberto’s). The restaurant opened in Anthem in 2008. Estrada is a strong supporter of community organizations, including the local Girl Scouts and the Daisy Mountain and Phoenix Fire Departments.

The Dec. 1 reception will be the 12th annual Holiday Business Reception and Awards Ceremony, but marks the first year under the banner of the newly formed Anthem Area Chamber of Commerce. The reception will be open to businesses and residents; tickets are required.
