Jim David Photography of Cave Creek honored with two Emmy Awards
CAVE CREEK – Local studio Jim David Photography earned two Emmy Awards for a short feature about a dedicated group of individuals working to conserve land in the North Phoenix valley.
“It is an honor to have our work recognized in this way,” said Jim David, who filmed all of the footage in addition to serving as director, lead editor, and co-writer. “It is especially gratifying having seen that the vast majority of our peers recognized on Emmy night came from television stations and much larger studios and firms.”
The award-winning film was a collaborative effort with his wife and business partner, Susan David, who served as producer and co-writer.
The Academy recognized Jim David Photography with Emmy Awards for Photographer-Short Form and Environment-Program Feature/Segment.
“There is no greater honor the chapter can bestow on its members. The Emmy statuette symbolizes the excellence for which we all strive,” said Theresa Maher, president of NATAS Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter, which made the awards at a ceremony in Phoenix in October.
The film was one of two pieces developed for the nonprofit Desert Foothills Land Trust, which sought a strong visual piece to anchor its annual fundraising event. A second, one-minute piece was developed for use on social media to engage a new generation of supporters.
“These awards recognize a wonderful project that the Land Trust is using to promote continued conservation of the desert landscape,” said Jeffrey Marshall, a Land Trust board member and chair of its communications committee.
“It was great to have such a wonderful story to tell, and we are thankful for the many people who played a part in making this film,” said David. “From the hardworking staff and volunteers at the Desert Foothills Land Trust, to the models hiking and panning for gold, to our behind the scenes help from John Haas, our assistant editor, and Mike Masters, who narrated. This wouldn’t have been possible without all of these pieces coming together.”
Asked if a repeat to the Emmys is on the horizon, David said, “I can’t say exactly where this work will take us, but I do know that the journey is exciting and we have a wonderful opportunity to help people, organizations and businesses tell their stories in compelling, engaging ways, and I look forward to doing even more of that.”
