BCHS band receives Superior rating, qualifies for State Championship

ANTHEM – The Boulder Creek High School Band received a superior rating in Division 1 at the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association State Marching Festival on Nov. 7. The band competed with the top 24 Arizona Division 1 bands from Arizona in the festival. Their score of 81.81 qualifies them for the Arizona State Marching Band Championship, happening this weekend.

All the Deer Valley Unified School District bands qualified for the State Championship. In addition to the BCHS band, both Sandra Day O’Connor and Mountain Ridge High Schools marching bands also qualified in Division 1. In Division 2, both Deer Valley and Barry Goldwater High Schools marching bands qualified for the state championship.

The top 10 bands in each division qualify for the State Championship competition. The Jaguar Pride marching band has qualified for the state championship three times in the past six years. This is their first state championship qualification in Division 1.

The Arizona State Marching Band Championship will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Glendale Community College. The championship will be open to the public, with a $10 admission fee. Visit for performance times for all bands.
