Don’t Be Late for a Very Important Date

“I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date!” Don’t be like the white rabbit in Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, late and missing the dates of local artist Joye DeGoede’s book signings. JoyEful Party Animals – The Celebration Begins, title of Joye’s newest publishing project has hit the press and will be out to her collectors and adoring public just in time for the November start of the “Arts and Holiday seasons.”

Joye has the reputation of being passionate about her art, life, and adorable fuzzy animals large and small. Her popular “JoyEful Party Animal” series has been selling, almost before the paint dries, right off her easel. This collection of paintings is bringing joy and happiness to her clients, as well as their family and friends. The publishing project is a collaboration with her cousin, Susan Krusell, to create a picture book for grownups titled JoyEful Party Animals: The Celebration Begins. The bound art collection is filled with full color reproduction of favorite paintings, some stories, as well as backgrounds of the finest distillers, brewers, and mixologists.  This is a book with a sense of style, fun, and appreciation for the finer things of life.

The works included in JoyEful Party Animals: The Celebration Begins juxtapose reality with fantasy. The goal is to inspire the viewer in discovering the fun in the mundane and consider the opportunities for joy in our everyday world. As a complement, Susan Krusell’s text includes a variety of well-researched myths, legends, and facts associated with the well-considered life of true “party animals.” As Joye shares, “I love painting the surrealistic mixture of animals, in their natural habitat, imitating human habits and behaviors.” Joye is very serious about her “party animals” and their message, “Life is too short not to laugh, smile, and enjoy.”

Joye is well-known in the art community as the Head Artist in Residence at the Gallery at el Pedregal. A number of her works are in the permanent collection of the Governor’s Office, including Governor Brewer’s official oil portrait. She has been honored with the National Capitol Tree People’s Choice Award as a winner, and Joye’s work is found in many private collections in the U.S. and abroad. Joye is also a juried member of several professional organizations, and her works have been featured in multiple shows across the country.  Her most recent exhibits are the Salmagundi Club Non Members show in New York City, The Mountain Oyster Club Juried Invitational Exhibitions, and the Scottsdale Artist’s School Best and Brightest Exhibitions.
