CAVE CREEK – A 14-year old girl, identified as Shelby Faught, died at the scene of a rollover accident at the intersection of North Tatum Boulevard and Cave Creek Road, last Thursday at approximately 3 p.m. the Phoenix Police Department confirmed.

A small silver vehicle carrying four passengers allegedly ran a red light, which then rolled after it collided with an SUV. Faught, who was a passenger in the silver car, was ejected when the car rolled over and pronounced deceased at the scene, according to a press release from Phoenix Police spokesperson, Sergeant Mercedes Fortune.

The driver of the silver vehicle, a 21-year old male, and the other two passengers, a 19-year old male and 16-year old female, were all transported to the local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the SUV is a 53-year old female who was also transported to the hospital for injuries, according to Phoenix Police.

Phoenix Police suspect that both drivers were impaired at the time of the accident and believe it is one of the contributing factors to the accident, along with the red light violation. Charges for both drivers will be determined once the investigation is concluded, said Sergeant Fortune in the press release.

Currently, police are not releasing any of the passengers or drivers’ names, and there is no word on their current conditions.
