Memorial run to honor Deputy Coleman to be held Nov. 8
ANTHEM – The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office will hold a memorial run to honor Deputy Bill Coleman on Nov. 8, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Academy class #139 will lead the run, which will begin at the Anthem Community Center and conclude at the site of Coleman’s end of watch.
The academy class will complete a 4.2-mile run with a stop at Coleman Field at Anthem Community Park. Here, they will complete 977 repetitions of several different exercises; 977 was Coleman's serial number. The community is invited to participate in the exercise or to be in attendance to support the academy class.
Several MCSO units, including helicopter #977; Daisy Mountain Fire Department; and DPS are scheduled to be on site and overhead to accompany and salute the recruits in Anthem during the exercise. Traffic will be temporarily blocked at Anthem Way and Gavilan Peak Parkway to allow the runners to cross the intersection en route to the Starbucks parking lot.
This is the third Coleman Memorial Run in Anthem. The first, held in November 2015, was led by academy class #137.
Those interested in participating in the event should arrive at the ACC Community Center parking lot prior to 11:30 a.m. The event is scheduled to conclude at 1:30 p.m.
