Halloween events you won’t want to miss

CAVE CREEK – As the month of October comes to a close, so do the many Halloween activities. Here are two themed events that you will want to catch before it’s too late.

Carefree’s Enchanted Pumpkin Garden

Starting earlier this month, Carefree has turned its four-acre Desert Gardens into an enchanted pumpkin garden.  There are many vendors, including food trucks, around this family friendly event.

Two of the most popular attractions at this pumpkin garden are the Autumnal Treats, which is open 11 a.m. -9 p.m., Friday through Sunday. In addition to the favorite local restaurants, there will also be delicious fall treats.

For the adults, there is also the Jack O’ Lantern Craft Beer Garden that will be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., on Fridays through Sundays, including Halloween. And, if you’re not a beer drinker, there will be some wine selections available, as well.

This weekend, there is also an opportunity to meet the world-renowned carver and artist Ray Villafane, as he actually carves characters and answers questions.

The event is open every day up until, and including, Halloween from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Cave Creek Wicked

A one-day event you won’t want to miss is Cave Creek Wicked. It’s Arizona’s only all day, all night Halloween event that is split into two sections. The first is from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., and it’s the family friendly part. With a kids’ costume contest to pet adoptions and community-wide trick or treating, this is an event families are not going to want to miss!

Then the second part of the day is the evening contest pub crawl from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.

There will be eight Rock the District music groups performing and a complimentary bus, or Wicked Wheels, will continuously loop to and from the town’s top saloons for a plethora of costume contests, specialty themed cocktails and tons of prizes.

This seven-year-old Cave Creek Wicked festival has attractions for individuals of all different ages, and is a great way to kick off the Halloween weekend.
