Gavilan Peak Firebirds win district cross-country title

ANTHEM – The Gavilan Peak Firebirds cross-country team won the district cross country title last week, and they’re now on their way to the state competition.

Diana DeReese coached the Gavilan Peak girls team to victory. Julie DeReese came in first place, setting a new course record. Sage Sollars, also a fifth grade student at Gavilan Peak, finished in third place. Second place went to a Sonoran Foothills student, fourth place to a Diamond Canyon student, and fifth place to a Stetson Hills student.

The top runners will be competing in the upcoming state championship. Congratulations to all these student athletes!
