Cactus Shadows takes the big stage with ‘Peter and the Starcatcher’

Katlyn Ewens

SCOTTSDALE – High school actors and actresses will take the big stage for the first time this school year with their production of Peter and the Starcatcher. The show will be on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m.

Cactus Shadows Drama Club puts on four productions each school year, and this year they are Peter and the Starcatcher, Greater Tuna/A Tuna Christmas, Little Women, and the Senior-Directed One Acts.

Peter and the Starcatcher is a play about a young orphan, played by Gabe Ozaki, and his friends who are shipped to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff.  While at sea, a young girl named Molly, played by Julia Horner, helps the boys with a mysterious trunk they found in the captain’s cabin.

The students will take the audience on this journey in their roles under the direction of their theatre teacher and Drama Club sponsor Andrew Cupo.

Cupo is an alumnae of Cactus Shadows and has worked with students for years.  He works with the students as they help produce the show from the stage and behind the scenes.  The students of Drama Club help with the scene design, directing, acting, lights, and more!

Tickets may be purchased at the show.  For more information, please visit
