CCUSD Governing Board candidate forum set for Oct. 17


SCOTTSDALE – Learn more about the candidates running for the three open seats on the Cave Creek Unified School District Governing Board at a candidate forum at Cactus Shadows High School on Monday, Oct. 17, 6-7:30 p.m. Cactus Shadows IB students are hosting this candidate forum and will develop questions for the candidates. Audience members will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates.

Janet Busbee, Susan Clancy, Kathryn Hill, and James Rich are running for a position on the board. Three seats are opening; Karen Tuffs’, David Schaefer’s, and Janet Busbee’s terms all expire at the end of this year. One incumbent, Janet Busbee, is running for re-election.

Busbee first joined the Governing Board in 2008. Her children currently attend CCUSD schools, and she has a background in school volunteering, including in PTOs.

Clancy has served on the CCUSD Governing Board in the past. She was also re-elected to the Cave Creek Council in the August election.

Hill volunteers in the district and is the current president of the Cactus Shadows High School PTO.

Rich is a trustee of the Cave Creek Unified Education Foundation. Rich’s children are currently in a CCUSD school, and he volunteers in district schools.

The candidate forum will be held in the Cactus Shadows High School Lecture Hall, located at 5802 E. Dove Valley Road.
