MCSO asking for community’s help in identifying armed robbery suspect
ANTHEM – Two Anthem businesses were robbed in the last several weeks, and investigators report that the crimes are likely connected. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has released a sketch of one of the suspects and is asking the public to help identify him.
In the request for information, MCSO notes that “there are two separate suspects in these cases” but emphasizes that “we have information to believe the armed robberies are connected.”
The first armed robbery occurred on Aug. 31, at approximately 9 p.m., at Papa Murphy’s, located at 3655 W. Anthem Way. The robber entered the store and threatened employees with a gun, getting away with about $200 in cash, according to initial reports. The suspect in this case was described as a white male, very thin build, approximately 5’10” in height.
Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, located in the Anthem Crossroads plaza at the corner of Gavilan Peak Pkwy. and Daisy Mountain Dr., was targeted next, on the night of Sept. 1. In this case, the suspect was described as a dark-complexioned African American or Indian male with a very thin build, approximately 5’09” to 6’ in height. The sketch released is of this suspect.
MCSO says that both suspects wore dark clothing with a baseball cap and hoodie, and that a dark charcoal gray or black compact four door sedan was possibly involved.
