Musical Theatre of Anthem wins seven ariZoni Awards

ANTHEM – Musical Theatre of Anthem was honored with seven ariZoni Theatre Awards of Excellence at the awards ceremony on Sept. 21 at Tempe Center for the Arts. The theatre was nominated for 31 ariZoni Awards for their 2014-2015 season. 

“We are honored and proud to have a number of our actors and production staff recognized,” said Jackie Hammond, MTA’s Producing Artistic Director. “We are especially pleased with the Overall Play award for the moving performance of The Diary of Anne Frank, executed flawlessly by the very talented cast and led by Outstanding Director award-winner, Laura O'Meara.”

“I am so incredibly honored to have received this award. This show changed my life forever and I cannot thank everyone at MTA enough,” said Zoe Tanton, winner of the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Play for her performance in The Diary of Anne Frank.

“It is such a gift to be recognized for a show that had such a huge impact on me,” said Ann Emilie Tjorhom of her award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Play for The Diary of Anne Frank. “The whole cast is indebted to Laura O'Meara, who pushed us until the show did justice to the material.”

TJ Rossi, winner of the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Musical for Wizard of Oz, said, “When I am performing, it feels like I’m over the rainbow every time I step foot on the stage. It was an honor to receive an award for something that I simply can’t live without!”

Laura O’Meara – Outstanding Direction (Diary of Anne Frank)
Sherry Henderson – Artistic Specialization (Acrobatics) in (Cats)
Zoe Tanton – Outstanding Lead Actress in a Play (Diary of Anne Frank)
Ava Tyson – Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Play (Diary of Anne Frank)
Ann Emilie Tjorhom – Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Play (Diary of Anne Frank)
TJ Rossi – Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Musical (Wizard of Oz)
Anne Frank – Overall Play
