Anthem Pets to hold vaccination clinic, Oct. 17

9/30/2015

NORTH VALLEY – Keeping current with vaccinations can help keep your pet healthy and safe. That’s why Anthem Pets is holding a low-cost pet vaccination clinic on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Cookies-N-Clean in Tramonto.

Both dogs and cats can get vaccinated at the clinic. Canine and feline rabies, feline distemper, feline FELV, canine DHLPP, and canine Bordetella vaccines will all be available. These shots are $15 each. Rattlesnake shot boosters will be available for $25. Microchipping services will also be available for $43, which includes a lifetime registration fee.

Vaccinating your dog against rabies isn’t just a good idea – it’s the law. Dogs over the age of three months are legally required to be licensed with the county. Not licensing your dog is a class 2 misdemeanor. An unvaccinated dog also faces a rabies quarantine hold away from home if the dog bites someone. Bites are required to be reported to the county.

ARS 11-1014 states, “An unvaccinated dog or cat that bites any person shall be confined and quarantined in a county pound or, on request of and at the expense of the owner, at a veterinary hospital for a period of not less than ten days.” A vaccinated dog can generally be quarantined at home, according to the statute.

All in all, it’s vital for the owner and the dog to keep the dog updated on rabies shots. The vaccination clinic on Oct. 17 will provide an inexpensive, easy way to keep dogs up-to-date on required shots.

Services will be provided on a walk-in basis. Academy West will provide all services.
