Ask the candidates: DVUSD governing board candidate forum set for Oct. 10
ANTHEM – Three seats on the Deer Valley Unified School District governing board are being sought in this year’s election, and the board candidates will be coming to a candidate forum in Anthem on Monday, Oct. 10 to answer local residents’ questions and share ideas and goals for the DVUSD. The forum will be held at the Anthem Civic Building and will start at 6 p.m.
Six candidates are currently running for the board, including incumbents Ann Ordway and Michael (Greg) Gregoire. Jenny Frank, Darcy Tweedy, Jennie Paperman, and Bob Stambach are also running. Ron Bayer, who is currently on the DVUSD board, initially filed to be on the ballot but has since withdrawn his candidacy, according to the Maricopa County Education Service Agency. Elected DVUSD governing board members will serve 4-year terms.
According to local resident Curtis Baker, who is one of the organizers of the forum, all of the candidates have indicated that they will be present.
Baker noted that multiple organizations are working together to bring this informational forum to the north valley community.
“All the organizations involved thought it was important to get good information from all the candidates,” Baker said in an email interview. “Canyon Springs PTSA, Highland Lakes PTSO, Terramar PTSA, and Deer Valley Votes 4 Kids got together to put this together. Alan Muller (president of the New River/Desert Hills Community Association) helped facilitate the venue.”
