The Foothills Focus earns awards from statewide newspaper association

NEW RIVER – The staff of The Foothills Focus is honored to announce that the paper has won four awards through the Arizona Newspaper Association’s Better Newspapers Contest.

Among the awards the paper received is an award in Community Service/Journalistic Achievement. This award honors newspapers that are positively affecting their communities through their commitment to journalistic quality. The Foothills Focus is extremely grateful to the community organizations that offered commendations for the paper and helped the newspaper achieve this recognition.

Tara Alatorre, Lead Reporter, won first place in the investigative reporting category for the paper’s division. Elizabeth Medora, Managing Editor, received a second place mention for a water rescue photo, taken during the 2014 New River flood. Jessica Watts, who formerly interned at the Focus, was recognized for enterprise reporting for her story on volunteers at the Daisy Mountain Fire Department.

We at The Foothills Focus extend our thanks to the communities we serve for your ongoing support.
