Plans for freestanding ER cancelled

Staff Report~ 9/24/2014

ANTHEM – Adeptus Health will not be building a freestanding emergency room in Anthem, as they had proposed. It would have been built at the corner of Daisy Mountain Drive and Dedication Trail.

A meeting for public input on the proposed development was held last June. Some residents protested the freestanding ER, saying it would be unnecessary. Others supported having 24/7 medical care available in Anthem.

Now, however, according to the company’s developers, Adeptus Health has decided to focus their prospects on completing the Arizona General Hospital, which will be located in Laveen. The new hospital is scheduled to open in early 2015. The healthcare company has not released any further plans to build a freestanding ER.

No development plans have yet been released for the site of the cancelled ER.
