Ribbon-cutting to be held for Opportunity Way Park on Saturday
ANTHEM – If you’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of the Opportunity Way Park in Anthem, the wait is almost over! The new park officially opens with a ribbon-cutting on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 9 a.m.
This 10-acre park will provide lots of playtime options for Anthem residents. The park includes multi-use sports fields, a basketball half-court, shaded playground areas with varied play structures, a half-mile walking path, a ramada, and a picnic area. The new park will also have restroom facilities and will offer on-site parking.
The Opportunity Way Park is the latest Facility Master Plan project of the Anthem Community Council. The park is funded from the Enhancement Fund, and this park project was prioritized in the Facilities Master Plan. According to the ACC, the ACC Board-approved Enhancement Fund project is partially built over an EPCOR active recharge facility, which may make it the first park of its kind in the country.
At the ribbon-cutting on Saturday, ACC and EPCOR representatives will speak. Demonstrations/scrimmages are planned for the athletic fields, as well. Everyone is welcome to attend, and refreshments will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to walk, bike or carpool, if possible. The ceremony is planned to go on, rain or shine.
The park is located at 41906 N. 46th Lane (on Opportunity Way) on Anthem’s west side.
