No injuries sustained to pets or people from Claws N’ Paws fire

NEW RIVER – Pet grooming business Claws N’ Paws was damaged by a fire on Labor Day. Daisy Mountain Fire Department responded to an emergency call on Sept. 5 from another tenant in the Riverside Plaza on the frontage road. According to DMFD’s social media release, no animals were in the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported from the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office detectives.

According to MCSO Public Information Officer Courtney Palma, MCSO detectives are investing the fire as suspicious. Palma also said that the time when the fire started is still under investigation.

Due to the backups on the I-17 on Labor Day, the frontage road saw increased traffic that day, so there may be witnesses with useful information for the investigation.

“If there was anyone that saw anything or has any information they can call the Sheriff’s office at 602-876-1011,” Palma said.
