Aug. 11 storm brought high winds, minimal rain

NORTH VALLEY – An Aug. 11 monsoon storm brought a flood of dust instead of rain. High winds from the storm snapped trees around the North Valley. Power outages caused by the storm occurred around the Valley. In Chandler, the storm flipped small planes at the Chandler Municipal Airport.

Around the Valley, wind gusts hit about 60 mph that day. The blowing dust caused limited visibility around Valley roadways.

Very little rain fell that day. Most areas of the Valley did not report even a half-inch of rain.
