Candidate Forum to be held on Sept. 14; submit questions now

ANTHEM – The Anthem Community Council and the New River/Desert Hills Community Association are partnering to bring local, state, and federal candidates to a Candidate Forum at the Anthem Civic Building on Sept. 14, beginning at 6 p.m. At the forum, candidates will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and their platforms, followed by a moderated question-and-answer period.

The communities of Anthem, New River, and Desert Hills include more than 51,000 residents of the area served by those running for local, state and federal district seats. Candidates invited include, but are not limited to: U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative (Districts 4 & 8), State Senator and Representatives (District 1), Arizona Corporation Commission, and County offices, including assessor, attorney, recorder, sheriff, treasurer, supervisor, school superintendent, justice of the peace, and constable. Some of the candidates invited will not respond until after the results of the Aug. 30 primary election. Over a dozen candidates have already confirmed attendance.

At the event, each candidate will be invited to give a two-minute introduction. Questions will be collected from the audience in advance. Then, a moderator will ask timed questions of the candidates in each office represented. A meet-and-greet will kick off the event at 6 p.m., with the forum starting at 6:30 p.m.

Submit questions for candidates prior to Sept. 9 to info@anthemcouncil.com or in person at the Anthem Civic Building, 3701 W. Anthem Way. Questions must be topic and/or specific office related; personal agenda questions will not be considered.
