CAREFREE – The Carefree Town Council voted 7-0 in favor of the Easy Street condo project at the Aug. 4 meeting, and the development can now begin.

The Easy Street project, developed by Scottsdale firm Butte Companies, will include 49 luxury condos with a range of amenities. The $45 million project will be located at Easy Street and Carefree Drive, near the Town Center, allowing easy access to Carefree’s variety of festivals and events.

In the Town of Carefree’s Aug. 6 email newsletter, Carefree Vice Mayor John Crane said that the approval of the luxury condominium project “paves the way for the arrival of new-found energy and vibrancy within our Town Center.”

Along with the 49 luxury units to be built, the Easy Street Project will include a clubhouse with a heated pool and spa, water feature, fireplace, fitness center, and private wine cellars.

“We feel strongly the addition of our luxury condos in the heart of Town will add to the vibrancy of arguably the best pedestrian oriented setting in all the Foothills area (Carefree, Cave Creek, and North Scottsdale) for the ultimate Carefree lifestyle,” noted developer Ed Lewis in an Aug. 5 release from Butte Companies. “This new lifestyle living will replace the dirt lot that has been empty for decades.”

Crane specified in the town’s email newsletter that the Easy Street project “will preserve our unique lifestyle and image.”

“Great care has been taken to ensure that the Easy Street development fits into our existing style and standards of quality,” Crane wrote.

The Butte Companies release detailed that individual units would have ceilings 10 feet high, with some units having 15-foot ceilings. Condominium balconies will have stackable sliding glass doors to maximize views of the surrounding town and Sonoran Desert. Many of Carefree’s amenities will be in walking distance of the condos.

Crane noted in the email newsletter that the Town Center has always been pedestrian-friendly.

“The addition of recently approved fireplaces, a splash pad and outdoor seating within the Carefree Desert Gardens and near the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion only serve to place an exclamation mark on our friendly atmosphere,” Crane said. “And, the addition of Easy Street Town Center residents will only add to the amicable and comfortable Town Center that we've all come to enjoy.”

Butte Companies estimates that the Easy Street luxury condos will be available for occupancy by fall 2017. To learn more about the project or join the interest list, see
