Desert Mountain welcomes new principal
DESERT HILLS – Dr. JoAnn Schwarting has joined the Desert Mountain School team as the new principal.
Schwarting has worked at Desert Mountain before, having taught seventh-grade English language arts there in the past. In her 11-year career with the Deer Valley Unified School District, Schwarting has also worked as in instructional coaching and has served as an assistant principal.
“I am thrilled to once again be a part of this dynamic community, and I look forward to meeting and building strong positive relationships with the students, staff, parents, and community members of Desert Mountain School,” Schwarting wrote in a message on the school’s Principal Page.
Schwarting identifies her goal as principal as to continuously improve and support the level of student learning and socio-emotional growth the Desert Mountain community has come to expect
In a Q&A release from the DVUSD, Schwarting noted that her experience as an educator has shown her the importance of everyone working together to make a difference in children’s lives.
“Creating relationships with everyone, including community members, involved in our children’s’ lives is a critical component of educating them,” she said. “Without this collaborative effort, we limit a child’s exposure to the power of dreaming and to the wonder of exploring and analyzing the world they live in.”
