Anthem TCC Verizon store collects 250 backpacks to donate to local kids
ANTHEM – The TCC Verizon Retail Store in the Anthem Marketplace plaza has collected 250 backpacks, complete with school supplies, to donate to local kids in need. The backpacks will be distributed at a community event on Saturday, July 30, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and Daisy Mountain Fire Department will also be at the event, and Daisy Mountain Fire will have a truck on display from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
One free backpack per child will be offered at the giveaway event, while supplies last. Kids need to be present to receive a free backpack.
Anthem TCC Verizon Store Manager Ryan Moore said this back-to-school supplies drive is part of the TCC Verizon Culture of Good program.
“We (TCC Verizon) are the largest Verizon retailer in America and we have every one of our locations involved giving away 250 backpacks,” Moore said. “We have 24 stores here in the Valley that are doing it, so if we run out, there will be additional opportunities for the kids to get a backpack.”
Moore added that MCSO is also having a back-to-school backpack drive, so if the Anthem TCC Verizon store has leftover backpacks after the event, the extras will get added to the MCSO supplies to be handed out.
“I believe there will be a good turnout for this event!” Moore said.
The Anthem TCC Verizon Retail Store is located at 3655 W. Anthem Way.
