PHOENIX – OSR Physical Therapy North Phoenix patient Chris Lambertson has ALS and needs a more accessible home, and the OSR staff has raised several thousand dollars for the Lambertson family to help make that happen. Funds raised at the ‘Hot Dogs For Our Dude’ event on July 11 will help the family pay for a more convenient and accessible home. If you couldn’t make the event but would like to help out this family as they fight ALS, stop by any OSR location and drop off a donation.

For the OSR staff, patients become like family, and when family needs help, you do whatever you can to help them out. In the case of the Lambertson fundraiser, the OSR North Phoenix staff took that to new levels – every time the staff hit a certain donation goal, they performed a wacky stunt. At the event, three of the staff members ate pickled pigs’ feet, one of them got his head shaved, and another got his legs waxed – now that’s dedication!

OSR North Phoenix Clinic Director Chris Ellis called patient Chris Lambertson “one of our own.” Both Lambertson and his wife have been OSR patients, and the OSR staff and the Lambertson family have become friends. The staff worked together to plan out a fun way to contribute to the family, and the idea for ‘Hot Dogs For Our Dude’ was born. The event included hot dogs, raffles, live music, and an on-site tour of one of Daisy Mountain Fire Department’s engines, as well as the fundraising stunts by the OSR staff.

Ellis noted that all fundraiser proceeds are going directly to the Lambertsons. The OSR staff’s goal is $5,000, and they have reached at least $3,000. (The exact fundraising total wasn’t yet available by Foothills Focus press time.) Other OSR patients chipped in time, money, and talents to help out; live music was provided by an OSR patient and a staff member’s fiancé, who are both musicians, and Ellis said a patient who runs her own bakery sold baked goods to help fundraise.

For the OSR staff, it’s all about the family approach, and when someone from their family of patients needs help, the staff will be there.
