CCUSD Tech Director receives Innovation Award
Staff Report~ 6/18/2014
CAVE CREEK – Nancy Pratt, Cave Creek Unified School District Director of Instructional Technology, has been chosen for the Arizona Technology in Education Association’s Technology Director 2014 Innovation Award.
Pratt was nominated by a colleague. ISTE past president, Dr. Helen Padgett and Nancy worked on the Shutterfly Photo Story for iPad App Pilot Program.
Padgett shared “…it has been a wonderful experience collaborating with Nancy…it is impressive to see the strength of the technology implementation in CCUSD. There is no doubt that Nancy is having a positive impact on many teachers and students.”
Pratt has been in CCUSD since 2006 and has focused on maximizing the use of the technology to increase student engagement and create high-interest lessons and units for all students. She believes her military background helps with systems-thinking, which lends itself to technology integration in schools. Pratt openly considers herself a geek when it comes to technology.
In their award letter, AzTEA wrote, “Each year, we receive an extremely strong pool of nominees from locations all around Arizona, which makes for a very difficult selection process.”
Pratt was awarded her certificate by Cathy Poplin, Deputy Associate Superintendent for Educational Technology (recently retired) from the Arizona Department of Education and Nick Trakas, Educational Technology Specialist (Florence USD) together with Dr. Helen L. Padgett at CCUSD’s Administrative Team meeting on June 12.
“This recognition is a well-deserved award, as Nancy is a selfless teacher of teachers who understands that technology enhances teaching rather than replaces it,” said Dr. Jana Miller, CCUSD Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
