Cave Creek entrance monuments dedicated

Staff Report~ 6/11/2014

CAVE CREEK – Sculptor Mark Carroll has captured the essence of Cave Creek in two horse monuments that now mark the town’s entrances.
Cave Creek Vice Mayor Adam Trenk dedicated the monuments in a ceremony on June 10. Artist Carroll won a national competition held by the town of Cave Creek to create a symbol of Cave Creek. He began work on the sculptures last December. Carroll lives in Cave Creek and wanted to illustrate the spirit of the town.
“Cave Creek is a horse town. It has western traditions,” said Carroll, elaborating on why he chose horses for the subject of his sculptures.
The monuments can be seen on the east side of Cave Creek Road near Scopa Trail and at Cave Creek Road and Stagecoach Pass.
