Deadly crash on I-17 in Anthem

ANTHEM – A one-car crash on May 27 took the life of the driver of the truck and injured a passenger.
Thirty-two year old Nolan Burns of Phoenix was heading southbound on the I-17 in the early morning of May 27. For reasons currently unknown, Burns lost control of his Chevrolet pickup near the Daisy Mountain Road exit. His truck swerved off the road to the left and hit the center median wall. Witnesses called 911, and the Department of Public Safety and the Daisy Mountain Fire Department responded to the accident scene. Burns did not survive the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The only other occupant of the truck was an unidentified man. He was admitted to John C. Lincoln hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to recover fully. At this time, officials have not released his name.
The Department of Public Safety is still investigating the accident. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. No significant traffic delays were reported, as only one lane of the I-17 was closed due to the crash.
