New River Elementary celebrates end of school year with awards, giveaways
NEW RIVER – New River Elementary celebrated the completion of the 2014-15 school year with an assembly on May 27. Students' achievements throughout the school year were commemorated.
Nine students won bikes through a reading contest that had been held throughout the year. The
Pioneer Masonic Lodge #82 donated bikes as part of a reading incentive program to encourage students to read more frequently. One student from each grade level, grades 1-6, won a bike. Two kindergarteners won bikes, and a special grand prize winner won an additional bike.
Multiple students were recognized for their academic achievements, including principal's list and honor roll students. The school spelling bee winner and runner-up were honored. Several students also received physical education class awards. The last New River Kiwanis awards of the school year were also given out.
