DMFD Citizen Corps presenting free Ham Radio Technician Course

5/17/16

NORTH VALLEY – The Daisy Mountain Fire Department Citizen Corps and the Arizona Repeater Association are partnering to present free Ham Radio Technician Classes on three consecutive Saturdays in June.

Each class will familiarize students with Ham radios and help participants prepare for the FCC Technician Class License exam. Morse code is no longer a requirement. This is the ideal course if you are interested in learning more about Amateur (Ham) Radio, becoming a licensed operator, or if Ham radio is part of your disaster preparedness communication plan.

Classes will be held on June 4, June 11, and June 18. Students should attend all three classes; the FCC Exam will be offered at the June 18 class. Each class will run 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Classes are free. Students will need to purchase course materials, including workbooks.

To register, go online to http://bit.ly/23plrII. For more information, email Paul Schickel at Paul.Schickel@dmfd.org.

All classes will be held at Daisy Mountain Fire Department Station #141, 43814 N New River Road, in New River.
