Musical Theatre of Anthem hosts summer camp

Musical Theatre of Anthem is conducting its Summer Performing Arts Institute, a two-week program for performers ages 6-19 being from July 22 – Aug. 2. Students will learn vocal technique, musical theatre dance, acting, improv, tap, and theater etiquette. All levels are welcome, and students will be grouped by age and experience.
Participants will learn from award-winning, experienced directors, vocal directors and choreographers, including Jackie Hammond, Sherry Henderson, Laura O’Meara, Ginette Rossi, Terri Scullin, Shawna Weitekamp, Amanda Paige, Jim Gradillas, Danielle Cicogna and more. Ages 10 and up will also be able to participate in master classes with audition technique, casting tips, and comedic improv. Participants will rotate between the various classes and instructors in their specialties. The material will include selections from MTA’s upcoming sixth season.
Camp for ages 6 – 9 will run from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. and cost $225 or go until 11:30 a.m. for those interested in taking a 30-minute tap dance class for a total of $275.
Camp for ages 10 – 12 and 13 – 19 will run from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at a cost of $425.
The camp will run Monday – Friday at MTA’s theatre performance space, located at 42323 N. Vision Way in Anthem.
Online registration is available at musicaltheatreofanthem.org. Payment is due upon registration, and a 10 percent sibling discount is available. Space is limited.
The camp concludes will three performances by the students, including 6 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 2. Tickets will be available at the door for only $10 each (cash or check).
