Two fires sparked in Table Mesa area over Easter weekend

NORTH VALLEY – Firefighters responded to two fires in the Table Mesa area on Sunday. Crews worked together to extinguish the fires, spending approximately 10 hours battling the blazes.

“There were 2 separate fires totaling approximately 6 acres in basically the same area,” Daisy Mountain Fire Department Captain Matt Wood said via email. “The main concern was rough terrain and protection of high tension power lines as the fire was threatening the power lines.”

Daisy Mountain Fire Department, Black Canyon Fire Department, and Bureau of Land Management crews all worked on the scene together; approximately 60 firefighters were on scene.

The cause of the fires has not yet been released.

As wildfire season approaches, DMFD is reminding the community to be responsible with activities in the desert to help avoid sparking fires.
