Youth to learn about law enforcement at MCSO Explorers recruitment

Staff Report~ 4/16/2014

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is inviting youth between the ages of 14 and 18 to check out the MCSO Explorers Recruiting Orientation scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. April 26 at Boulder Creek High School in Anthem.
All potential recruits must bring a parent and a black pen to the April 26 orientation.
As an Explorer, young adults have the opportunity to assist MCSO and can broaden their understanding of the challenges and job skills present in law enforcement service. In addition to gaining a working knowledge of police work, participants can give back to their communities.
Explorers receive specialized law enforcement training, attend weekly meetings and volunteer to perform community services.
Along the way, they learn to work as a team, gain leadership skills and serve the community.
The MCSO Explorer Program is year round and is not intended for “at risk” youth. An applicant cannot have any arrests and/or convictions for felonies or serious misdemeanors.
