PMAZ celebrates 100th anniversary of National Parks in Sea to Shining Sea
ANTHEM – Join ProMusica Arizona for a musical and visual journey through the United States’ National Parks. PMAZ is collaborating with the National Park Service to pay tribute to America’s amazing National Parks in its season finale: Sea to Shining Sea: Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the National Parks. The family-friendly concerts feature music inspired by the majestic and varied beauty of America, accompanied by stunning photos and video footage shared by the National Park Service.
National Park Service rangers will participate in the event by facilitating free passes to the parks for 4th graders and their families through the Every Kid in a Park program, giving pre-concert talks and narration during the concert, and providing literature about the upcoming National Parks Centennial.
Arizona composer Craig Bohmler, writer of the musical Mountain Days – the Story of John Muir, has created a special arrangement of Climb the Mountain for the ProMusica Arizona Chorale and Orchestra to perform at this concert. Other special features include the western U.S. premier of Dear Appalachia: Songs from My Mountain Home, a newly commissioned work by Timothy Michael Powell for bluegrass instruments and choir, and a selection from the well- known Grand Canyon Suite.
