NVCA construction continues; new campus to open for next school year
PHOENIX – Construction on North Valley Christian Academy’s new campus is halfway finished, and students will be welcomed into the new structure at the start of the 2017-18 school year.
A ‘topping out’ ceremony and hard-hat tour of the new campus was held on Feb. 23. The new campus encompasses 72,000 square foot campus and is located south of Carefree Hwy. at 33655 N. 27th Dr.
At the Feb. 23 ceremony, NVCA Executive Director Nate Kretzmann called the construction of the campus “part of something bigger”, describing it as a “project for God’s glory.”
NVCA Board Chairman Gary Yiatchos said that the new campus is “not a step up – it’s a gigantic leap.” He noted that, at the new campus, programs will be available that there have not been room for at the space the school currently occupies.
“It is truly a blessing that we ended up here,” Yiatchos said.
NVCA is currently located in Anthem. The new campus in north Phoenix will provide room for over 600 students, grades PreK-12. New programs and an expanded curriculum will be offered, with increased flexibility, athletic programs, performing arts, and more. Outdoor learning opportunities will be featured at the new school, and each classroom will include a patio. The campus will be surrounded by a view fence.
Kretzmann said via email that in order to ease traffic in the area, NVCA plans to have a later start time than Ridgeline Academy, which is located south of NVCA’s new building.
“The school has added a deceleration lane from 27th drive onto the campus, which will help with the overall traffic flow,” Kretzmann said. “NVCA has also covered a portion of the expense to install a stoplight at the intersection of North Valley Parkway and 27th Drive.”
Kretzmann also said that the school has received over 300 new inquiries about enrollment for the upcoming school year.
“If families are interested, it is important to apply as soon as possible. Individual enrollment decisions are made within two weeks of receiving all completed application documents,” he added.
