Community Association holding free recycling event on March 5


NEW RIVER – The New River/Desert Hills Community Association’s 4th annual free recycling event is set for Saturday, March 5, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at the New River Kiwanis Community Park.

Event sponsors include Republic Services, which will be accepting cardboard, aluminum cans, copper and other metals, and plastic bags. PROSHRED will accept documents that need to be shredded; they’ll be on-site 10 a.m.-1 p.m. eGreen-IT Solutions will accept old electronics, including computers, phones, and TVs. MCSO will offer drug disposal and will take any drugs, no questions asked, to be safely disposed of. Goodwill of Central AZ will take donations of useable household items. Maricopa County will be accepting passenger tires (without rims) for recycling, as well as some metal recycling. No hazardous waste will be accepted at this event.

The Daisy Mountain Fire Department will be on hand at the event for safety training.

Voluntary $20 donations will include a 2016 membership to NR/DHCA. To sign up, fill in a membership form online or at the recycling event, and a receipt will be emailed to you.
