Recycling event happening on March 4
PHOENIX – Time for some spring cleaning? A recycling event is happening on the morning of Saturday, March 4, at the Maricopa County Transfer Station. The event is hosted by the New River/Desert Hills Community Association and Maricopa County.
On-site vendors will include Goodwill, which will be accepting any usable item for donation, and Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, which will be taking unused medication, no questions asked; needles cannot be accepted. Both of these vendors will take items for no charge. ProShred will be on-site, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., offering free document shredding.
GreenSheen Paint will be taking latex paint only, for a small fee. EGreen IT Solutions will accept all electronic waste for free and will take CRT TVs for a $5 fee each. Other items accepted for free include mixed household recycling, tires, and metal.
The recycling event is open to anyone, and proof of residency is not required. The event is first come, first served, and a large turnout is expected. The event runs 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
The event will be held at the Maricopa County Transfer Station, located at 41835 N New River Road West, in north Phoenix. The site is 4 ½ miles west of I-17 on New River Road. There will be yellow signs guiding residents from I-17 to the location.
