Foothills Caring Corps names David Schwan 2016 Humanitarian of the Year
CAREFREE – The Foothills Caring Corps has announced that David Schwan is the recipient of its 2016 Humanitarian of the Year Award. Schwan will be honored at the Taste of the Foothills Celebration and Cash & Caring Raffle on March 31, to be held at el Pedregal, 34505 N. Scottsdale Road, in Scottsdale.
“We are thrilled to shine a bright spotlight on David Schwan’s many years of generous support of the Foothills Caring Corps’ mission to promote elderly independence,” said Foothills Caring Corps executive director Debbra Determan.
Schwan is well known for his time as mayor of Carefree. He is also well known for supporting many community programs in the Carefree, Cave Creek, and Scottsdale areas. In the early years of the Foothills Caring Corps, Schwan helped keep the computers and software functional and efficient. Later, he served on the advisory board and board of directors. His longtime service to the Town of Carefree and the surrounding communities is highly respected.
The Foothills Caring Corps offers a variety of service for seniors in the northeast valley. Caring Corps volunteers deliver meals to homebound seniors, provide transportation for appointments and outings, help shop for groceries and other necessities, and offer friendly visits for those who are homebound.
The Taste of the Foothills Celebration supports the work of the Foothills Caring Corps. The March 31 event will include tastings from local restaurants, live and silent auctions, and live musical performances. Admission is $50 per person without a raffle ticket, or attendees can receive free admission for two adults, with the purchase of a Cash & Caring raffle ticket for $100.
