Anthem Chamber of Commerce announces Board of Directors for 2016
ANTHEM – The new Anthem Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has been busy planning for the upcoming year. Dennis Jones, Nanette Miller, Debbie Navarrette, and Eric Twohey have joined the Board of Directors for 2016.
Chamber President Dave Newham is president of Rayne of the North Valley. Newham is a member of the Preferred Businesses of Anthem and actively involved in the Rotary Club and served as Rotary President for almost 2 years. In 2012, Newham was recognized by the Chamber as Business Person of the Year.
“We are very lucky to have many business owners who are doing amazing things to support and build this community,” Newham said in a release from the Anthem Chamber. “I am a firm believer that if you don't get involved, then you don’t get to complain. We can all find time for what is most important to us and growing our Chamber and supporting our business community is very important to me.”
Chamber Vice-President, Shelly Spence is the founder and publisher of Images Arizona magazine, which was established 16 years ago. In 2013, Spence received the Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Spence has served on the Anthem Area Chamber’s board of directors for more than seven years.
Bonnie Smith, Membership & Ambassadors Committee Co-Chair, was part of the team that brought the master-planned community of Anthem by Del Webb to the North Valley area in 1999. As a Broker Relations and Relocation Manager for Del Webb, Smith promoted Anthem to all realtors and key companies along the I-17 corridor.
“As a pioneer enjoying all of the wonderful ways Anthem is home, the early vision of the planners of this community has come to fruition,” Smith said. “Anthem is a place where the people make the community and where you truly can live, work and play!”
Craig Boates, Policies & Procedures Committee Co-Chair, founded Boates Law Firm, PLLC in 2002. His practice focuses on business law, commercial and business litigation, family and divorce law, real estate and construction law, wills, trusts and estate planning, and Internet law.
Events & Fundraising Committee Co-Chair Nanette McClelland-Miller runs her own State Farm agency. She was one of the original members of the Anthem North Gateway Chamber and serves on the Anthem Community Council’s Economic Development Committee. She is also a member of the Business Network International group and was named Business Person of the Year in 2013.
Events & Fundraising Committee Co-Chair Debbie Navarrette has worked for Deer Valley Credit Union since February 2004 and has over 40 years of financial institution experience.
Navarrette’s commitment to the chamber stems from her desire to give back to the community she calls home. “This is the best community I’ve ever lived in and I want to use my experience and talents in a tangible way, each and every day, to build up the Anthem area.”
Dennis Jones, Membership & Ambassadors Committee Co-Chair, founded D.L. Jones & Associates Real Estate in 2006. Jones was named 2015 Business Person of the Year, and D.L. Jones & Associates was recognized with the Excellence in Community Service award.
“I am looking forward to 2016 and serving the chamber as a member of the board of directors,” Jones said. “I believe my business insight will add value to the board as we look to move our community forward and make the right decisions to positively impact future generations.”
Policies & Procedures Committee Co-Chair Jenna Kohl serves as the Community Executive Officer for the Anthem Community Council. She is passionate about community management and values the opportunity to serve both the community and the Chamber in her role.
Eric Twohey, Marketing & Promotions Committee Co-Chair, has served as the Marketing Director for 85086 Magazine since its inception. In addition to the chamber board, Twohey serves on the Anthem Community Council’s Economic Development Committee and is a board member for Anthem Young Professionals network.
The Anthem Chamber Board is focused on supporting the business community through collaboration and strong partnerships. Committee volunteer opportunities are available in a wide range of time commitments and offer members ways to get more involved in growing chamber programs and events. Members interested in getting involved in the action by serving on a chamber committee can contact the chamber at (623) 322-9127 for more information.
